Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be back in the starting XI for Manchester United this weekend, as the Red Devils welcome Southampton to Old Trafford in the Premier League.

The Portugal international came on as a substitute in the league against Burnley on Tuesday, appearing for the final 22 minutes of his side's 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.

However, the 37-year-old should be back in the starting lineup against Southampton this weekend, with Ralf Rangnick's side looking to get back on track after surrendering two points to the Clarets.

Ronaldo has been in fine scoring form for the Red Devils this season, striking the back of the goal 14 times in 25 appearances across all competitions.

The attacker has eight Premier League goals and three assists in 19 appearances, but he has not scored in England's top tier since the win against Burnley at the end of December.

Ronaldo has played against Southampton four times in his professional career, with three victories and one defeat, scoring twice in the process.

The majority of the attacker's appearances versus Southampton - three - have been in the Premier League, and he has won two and lost one of his three league games against the Hampshire club.

During his debut season at Old Trafford, Ronaldo played Southampton twice, initially appearing for 24 minutes in a 1-0 loss before playing the full 90 minutes in a 3-2 home victory later in the season.
